Easter Davis, 88, of Sandusky, died early Saturday morning, May 1, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center, following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Lenor, W.Va., daughter of the late Sarah (York) and Julius J. Scott. She was employed by New Departure-Hyatt for almost 25 years, retiring in 1977.
Easter was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and American Legion Post 83. She loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed gardening and the Cleveland Indians.
She is survived by her children, Patsy Troike of Castalia and Sarah (Everett) Jenkins and Harvey Davis of Sandusky; grandchildren, Debbie (Jeff) Miller, Danny Troike, Diana Troike, Scotty (Donna) Davis, Robert (Melissa) Jenkins, Tammy (Clint) Cherry, Julie (Larry) Duncan, Tommy (Cara) Penrod, Delbert Penrod, Peter Davis, Gina Davis, Harvey W. (Susan) Davis, Eva (Jason) Hacker, Heather (Shane) Stamm and Justin Davis; 25 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Adams of Columbus and Emma J. Chafin of Williamson, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by husband, Wayne Davis, on Aug. 16, 1990; her son, Julius "Pete" Davis; daughter, Mary Penrod; brother, Lewis Scott; and sisters, Edith Gallaher and Eva Thompson.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, and from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until services at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor David Hixson will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
