Alexander L. "Andy" Brown, 58, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, May 1, 2010, in Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He attended Midview High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran of the Vietnam War. Andy was employed at Janesville Products, and sold carpet and tile for many years. He just retired from truck driving.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 444, and was a life member of AMVETS. He played softball for many years, loved to bowl, and cherished time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Melodie (Mason) Brown of Sandusky; three sons, James Michael (Monica) Mason of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Joshua L. Brown of Sandusky and Christopher L. Brown of Florida; two daughters, Melissa A. (Michael Chicotel) Brown of Columbus and Jennifer M. Brown of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Issiah Schuka and Madelynn Brown; five brothers, Robert Shatzer of Norwalk, Edward (Kay) Brown of Monroeville, Carlos Brown of Norwalk, Michael Brown of Florence, Ky., and Mathew (Jeannie) Brown of Norwalk; two sisters, Suellen Brown of Norwalk and Mary E. (Ken) Millis of North Fairfield; aunts and uncles, Bernice and Frank Sauchuck of Beaver, W.Va. and Peter and Joyce Walls of Florida. He is also survived by six stepbrother and sisters from Kentucky, and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia L. (Walls) Brown in 1985; his father, William F. Brown Sr. in 1988; and one brother, Thomas Franklin Shatzer in 2009.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until military services at 11:30 a.m. in Giffin Chapel of Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Chaplain Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will be in Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery, Sandusky. Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
