James J. "Jim" Gosser Sr., 76, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, May 2, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.

He was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Sandusky, to Loren Joseph and Alice Blanche (McMillen) Gosser Sr. Jim was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War. He loved his family and grandchildren and enjoyed woodworking. Jim worked nearly 30 years at Oscar Mayer, formerly Chef Pantry, and before that Grill Meats. He later retired in 1995 from G. & C. Foundry.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, National Wood Carvers Association, a life member of the AMVETS Post 17, life member of VFW Post 2529 and a life member of the American Legion Post 83.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Agnes M. (Hagg) Gosser whom he married Oct. 29, 1955; children, James J. Gosser Jr. of Sandusky, Robert (Beth) Gosser of Sandusky, David (Sharon) Gosser of Tampa, Fla., Charles (Pam) Gosser of Castalia, William (Jane) Gosser of Sandusky, Suzanne (Randy) Yontz of Sandusky and Diane (Kenneth) Conlin of Huron; 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Steven, Brooke, Mallory, Jillian, Alli, Kayla, Shelby and Alyssa, Cecilia; three step-grandchildren, Tiffany, Andrew and Stephen; brother, Loren (Dorothy Ann) Gosser Jr. of Sandusky; sister, Ruth Ann Gosser of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Ryan Gosser.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where a prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Marty Nasser will officiate. Entombment will be in the Meadow Green Memorial Park Mausoleum, Huron, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 83.
