Florence B. (Ackenheil) Young, 81, of Milan died Tuesday, April 28, 2010, following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to John and Jenny (Frommer) Ackenheil. She married James A. Young, June 28, 1947, and he survives.
Florence was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Milan, and was a member of their Altar Rosary Society. She also attended bible study group with close friends. Florence loved gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Florence is survived by her husband, James Young; daughters, Peggy (John) Switzer of South Bend, Ind., Sharon (Terry) Stutzman of Clarkston, Mich., Rita Dauch of Dallas and Alice Young of Tiffin; sons, John (Ruthie) Young of Mansfield, Neil (Anna) Young of Clancy, Mont., James E. (Laura) Young of Oberlin and Leo (Susan Flynn) Young of East Windsor, N.J.; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Marion Lamont of Medford Lakes, N.J.; niece and goddaughter, Kathy Payton of Medford Lakes; and nephew, Walter Lamont of New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Young; parents; sister, Bertha Ackenheil; and nephew, Tommy Lamont.
Family and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, One S. Main St., Milan; a rosary service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Prayer services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Milan. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Milan.
