John E. Stacy, 91, of the Carriage House in Norwalk and formerly Huron, died Monday evening, April 26, 2010, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center, following a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Castalia, son of the late Irving and Myrtle (Addis) Stacy. He was U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II with the 30th Infantry Division, and was employed by Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1981 following many years of service.
He attended Methodist Church. John was a member of the Mason's, Singara Grotto, VFW Sandusky Post 2529, Sandusky American Legion Post 83 and UAW Local 1216. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Frank Maire of Norwalk; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Susan Stacy of Bellevue, and Jack and Helen Stacy of Columbus; nine grand-children and six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Beatty) Stacy in 2002; granddaughter, Rebecca Wendt; and brothers, George and Robert Stacy.
Family and friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Gary Streiff of Norwalk First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sandhill Cemetery, Sandusky.
