Rosetta Mae Hamer, 84, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 17, 2010.
She was born Oct. 12, 1925, to Marie and Carl Ackerman Sr. of Huron. Rosetta was a 1942 graduate of Huron High School. She was the devoted wife of Edwin Hamer and beloved mother of six children. She spent her life rearing her children, cooking in school cafeterias and church camps, working tirelessly in support of other church ministries, and managing retirement apartments in Mesa, Ariz. She thoroughly enjoyed discovering new recipes, coordinating menus and preparing food for those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin; her parents; and also by her brother, Carl Ackerman Jr. and sister, Alverna Bursiel, both of Huron.
She will always be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Kathleen DeYoung of Bemidji, Minn., Rebecca Sanders of Hilliard, Ohio, and Lois Smith of Harrisburg, Pa.; three sons, James Hamer of Plain City, Ohio; Paul Hamer of Indianapolis and Mark Hamer of Fullerton, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nellie Jane Bursiel of Huron.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Kenneth Garner officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron Township.
