Beatrice M. "Bea" Powell, 94, of Sandusky died early Thursday morning, April 8, 2010, in Erie County Care Facility following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 9, 1915, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Lorena (Meyer) and Theodore E. Roth. She was a 1933 graduate of St. Mary High School. Bea retired from Roth Printing after 35 years of service.
Bea is survived by her son, Blaine Powell of Sandusky; her daughter, Mary Bea Opfer of San Pedro, Calif.; four grandchildren, Shaun Powell of Marysville, Ohio, Bryan (Alissa) Opfer of Redondo Beach, Calif., Andrea Opfer of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Michelle Opfer of San Pedro; three great-grandchildren, Victoria and Pierce Powell of Marysville and Landon Opfer of Redondo Beach; two brothers, Ronald Roth and Thomas (Barb) Roth of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Powell in 1963; her daughter, Sandra Powell in 2005; her parents; her sister, Mary Ellen Link; and brothers, Theodore and Dale Roth and Lyle in infancy.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Jason Kahle will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
