Harold William Mirtes, 64, of Norwalk died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 27, 1945, in Norwalk and served in the U.S. Army from 1966-69 in Korea. He was a tool-and-die machinist for several years at Midwest Industries in Willard. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Norwalk VFW Post 2743. He enjoyed square dancing and was a ham radio operator. He was an avid bicyclist and rode a tandem from California to Ohio.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and John C. Wagner of Milan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Janice Mirtes of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Arthur and Catherine Mirtes of Huron; sister-in-law, Betty Mirtes of Norwalk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret (Pifher) Mirtes; and brother, Donald Mirtes in 2003.
Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Monday in Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Eric Mueller, associate pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
