Moe John Wilhelm, 51, of Put-in-Bay died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at his residence on Put-in-Bay.
He was born June 9, 1958, in Port Clinton, the son of Harold and Mary Anne (Hite) Wilhelm Sr. He worked for Dunfee and Hurst Plumbing in Sandusky until retiring in 2008 due to illness. For the past 32 years he was a volunteer firefighter for the Put-in-Bay Fire Department, and was fire chief for the past five years.
He was an avid fisherman and carpenter, and enjoyed building ice shanties. He had a huge heart and loved to help people.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Anne, of Put-in-Bay; children, Jessica and Justin Wilhelm; brothers and sisters, Kathleen Anne (Thomas) Kissell of Fremont, Karen (Dale) Burris of North Bass Island, Charlie (Susan) Wilhelm of Wakeman, and Mark (Karen) Wilhelm and Susan (Thomas) Seaberg of Put-in-Bay.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Ronald Brickner at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Put-in-Bay.
Burial will follow at Mapleleaf Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Put-in-Bay Fire Department.
