Edward Allyn Cope, 73, of Bardshar Road in Sandusky, and formerly of Salem, Ohio, died Sunday, April 4, 2010, in Lutheran Memorial Home, Sandusky.
He was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Salem, son of the late Wilford Lester and Lela Marie (Bruderly) Cope. Ed was a 1955 graduate of Salem High School and attended Youngstown State University. He served with the U.S. Army from January 1961 to December 1962.
Ed lived in California for 43 years. Before retiring in 1995, he was an electrical engineer for Wismer and Becker for 20 years. He worked on large construction jobs in many states including Alaska, Washington, North Carolina and North Dakota. He moved to Sandusky in 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Cope and Jeffrey Cope; a brother, Donald (Lonna) Cope of Sandusky; a stepsister, Virginia (Fred) Crowgey of Mansfield, Ohio; a nephew, Kevin Cope; a niece, Lora Cope; and two stepnieces, Adrienne (Brad) Husty and Erin Crowgey.
His stepmother, Elizabeth "Betty" Cope preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until services at 2 p.m. at Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem. The Rev. Robert Machovec will officiate. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
