Dorothy R. Weltlin, 104, of Sandusky passed away early Thursday evening, April 1, 2010, in Oliver-Woods Assisted Living, Owosso, Mich., after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 6, 1906, in Sandusky, the daughter of Conrad and Minnie (Loeffler) Hobert. She worked for 10 years at Sears Roebuck store and later at Fisher Drug Store for nearly 15 years as a sales clerk. She was the oldest member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Erie County Senior Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Dick) Jacalone of Owosso; 10 grandchildren, Paula (Ken) Martin, David (Judy) Jacalone, Daniel (Deb) Jacalone, Linda (Luke) Theis, Gail Baumgartner, Laurie Preston, Karen (Brian) Hammond, Lawrence (Patty) Baumgartner, Kris (Darin) Ranker and Connie (Tom) Rasmussen; 25 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Armella Masten of Sandusky; numerous nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law, Anne Baumgartner of Tiffin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence A. Baumgartner; second husband, Charles Weltlin; son, Lawrence E. Baumgartner; sister, Clara Bowersox; five brothers, Norman, Carl, Clarence, Edward and Chester Hobert.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. James Pfeiffer will officiate. At her request cremation will take place following the services. Interment will be at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery,. Sandusky.
