Gertrude Myrtle Taggart, 88, of Bellevue passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
She was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Sandusky, the daughter of the late Roy Nelson and Leola (Moore) Baker Cogswell. Gertrude was employed at GE Bellevue Lamp Plant and operated Taggart's Art Studio. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bellevue, United Methodist Women Norwalk District Mission Team, Four County Young at Heart, Clyde Top Hats, after school Logos Program and taught Sunday school.
Survivors include her son, the Rev. James E. Taggart of New Philadelphia, Ohio; daughters, Patricia A. Adams of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Sherry L. Ryan of Cardington, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Newton L. Baker of Texas; Christine B. Shumate of Canyon City, Colo.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Louis "Jim" Taggart, whom she married Jan. 26, 1940, in Sandusky; stepfather, Ralph Baker; two brothers; two sisters; and one granddaughter, preceded her in death.
Friends will be received 4-6 p.m. today in Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A private graveside service will be Monday in Meadowgreen Memorial Park, Huron.
