Lady LaTanya Faith Jones, 51, Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at her residence.
On May 4, 1959, God gave us a beautiful jewel in the person of Lady LaTanya Faith Jones. She was born in Cleveland to her adoring parents, Fred and Elizabeth Ashford. LaTanya was employed for more than 30 years at Gorman Rupp Company where she was an accountant in charge of corporate payroll. She was also a chairperson of the board of Gorman Rupp Employee Credit Union.
She accepted the Lord at an early age and was a faithful member at Shiloh Baptist Church where she and her high school sweetheart were united in holy matrimony. She married the love of her life, Clifton Thomas Jones Sr., July 16, 1977. To this union were born two wonderful children, Tausha Yvette and Clifton II. She lived, and raised her family, in the city of Mansfield. She joined the church where her husband was a member, Greater St. John COGIC. There she was nurtured and faithfully served as a member of the Young Women's Christian Council, Women's Department, and Usher's Board.
In 1992, Elder Clifton and LaTanya Jones were called to serve at Victory Christian Center Church in Sandusky. In 1997, she assisted her husband in founding Agape Love Ministries. She was an exceptional pastor's wife who loved to praise the Lord. LaTanya never allowed her exquisite attire and unique hats to hinder her praise. Always impeccably dressed, she vocally encouraged and supported her husband as he preached. When he was especially anointed she would dance backwards. At Agape she founded the Women of Endurance, through which she touched the lives of countless women. She was also a member of the intercessors and praise team.
LaTanya was a woman of prayer and an extraordinary example of Christian womanhood. She testified to being "saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost." She was known for her sweet spirit, encouraging words and incredible generosity. She was a supporter of the local Relay for Life. LaTanya also loved to take family vacations and romantic retreats with her husband.
Here to celebrate her life are her husband of nearly 33 years, Bishop Clifton T. Jones; daughter, Tausha (George) Hicks of Simpsonville, S.C.; son, Clifton Jones II of Marietta, Ga.; mother, Elizabeth Ashford of Mansfield; brother, Bishop Jerome H. (Patricia) Ross of Columbus; sister, Vicki Sutton of Cleveland; grandchildren, Natalie and Victoria Hicks of Simpsonville; and mother-in-law, Mother Fannie Jones of Mansfield; and the Agape Love Ministries Church family, as well as many friends and loved ones.
LaTanya was preceded in death by her father, Fred Ashford.
