William B. Childress of Milan Townshp died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
He was born in Callaway, Va., and has been a resident of the Huron area for the last 24 years, coming from North Royalton, Ohio. He worked for District Petroleum in Huron for 18 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Huron Eagles and Sandusky American Legion. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine (Derov); two daughters, Elle (David) Smith and Alysia Kissel, both of Grafton; three grandchildren, Eric and Adam Smith and Ricky Kissel; four great-grandchildren, David, Amber, Aubrey and Keira Smith; sister, Doris (Andrew) Shuffleburger of Richmond, Va.; brother, Lamar Childress of Tennessee; nephew, Lynwood (Carol) Wheeler of Richmond; and a special friend, Tim Sheridan of Grafton.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Mae Wheeler.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Jeffery Sikorski, pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, officiating. Burial will be in McMillen Cemetery, Huron.
