Olive Lucille Dressel Penman of Clyde died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Stein Hospice, Sandusky.

The oldest child of Lenn (Ben) Dressel and Ruth Ella Gerke Dressel was born Jan. 16, 1920, in Dillonvale, Jefferson County, Ohio. She was a 1938 graduate of Dillonvale High School. She married William J. (Rusty) Penman April 29, 1939. Bill and Olive resided in Dillonvale until 1955 when they moved to Bellevue. Later they moved to Clyde.

Olive was a member of the first graduating class of practical nurses at Sandusky School of Practical Nursing. She trained at Providence and Good Samaritan hospitals before working at The Bellevue Hospital and the former Beibricher Home. During that time, she worked for and obtained her LPN license.

She was a former member of First United Methodist Church, Bellevue. She was also a very proud member of American Legion Auxiliary, McCook Post 0529, Dillonvale, and Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, Tent 151 Dept. Ohio (Fremont).

Her husband, her parents and her brother, Edward "Buddy" Dressel, predeceased her.

Those who will cherish her memory are her two daughters, Ruth (Larry) Gardner of Bellevue and Susan Marie Penman of Clyde; her sister, Gloria Skiver of Luna Pier, Mich.; and cousin, Robert (Katy) Malone of Worthington, Ohio, as well as many other special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Olive was the grandmother of James (Paula) Gardner of Kendallville, Ind., Michael (Teresa) Gardner of Bellevue and Natalie (Dean) Kraus of Huron. She was great-grandmother to Sarah, Ben, Caleb, Rebekah, Kezia and Samuel Gardner of Kendallville, Jennifer, Zachary and Megan Gardner of Bellevue and Sydney and Jassic Kraus of Huron.

Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Foos-Klein Funeral Home, 318 S. Main St., Clyde. Pastor Mel Salyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
