Jerry William Young, 76, of Tallahassee, Fla., was called to heaven Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the home of his daughter, Tiffany and John Manson-Hing and family in Tallahassee, Fla. Also by his side in death were his sisters, Marva Caywood and LeAudrey Buckner. Jerry was born Dec. 9, 1933, in Bellevue, the son of the late Alfred and Eva Rose (Davis) Young. Jerry attended school in Bellevue, where he carried on the combined family legacies of the Davis and Young families and was recognized for being a black farmer with the most land in Ohio. Jerry was involved in various agriculture organizations, and he was also known for assisting other local farmers. Jerry also worked for Groton Township for several years in his off time.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday in Foos & Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Interment will be in Strong's Ridge Cemetery on Ohio 113 in Bellevue. A reception will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church.
