Lyle J. Cowie, 89, of Sandusky died Tuesday morning March 23, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born March 14, 1921, in Sandusky. He served in the U.S. Navy and was an aviator during World War II and the Korean War. Lyle received a bachelor's degree in education and was a professor at University of Miami.
He is survived by two sons, Al (Elsie) Cowie of Harrison, Ohio and James Cowie of Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Michele and Thomas Cowie.
Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. (Jacobs) Cowie in 1998; parents, Floyd and Anna (Liles) Cowie; and sister, Margaret H. Cowie.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Sand Hill Cemetery.
