William T. "Happy" Smith, 95, Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 21, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 8, 1914, in Central, S.C., son of the late, great Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and Matilda Sherman. William retired as a chauffeur, driving stars and celebrities for many years.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Evangelist Linda Davis and Deborah Smith, both of Athens, Ga., Jeanette White of Florida, Dorothy Glenn of Atlanta, Connie Harriston of North Carolina, Crizella LaScounce of Mount Clair, N.J., Jackie Roberts of Georgia and the Rev. Dr. William B. Howell Jr. of Columbus, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; six great-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Johnnie) Thomas of Columbus, Miss.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eugenia Smith; daughter, Malvonia Smith; parents; sister, Roberta Hall; and brother, Walter Smith.
The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the home of his daughter, Linda Davis, 2400 Milan Road, Apt. 211, Sandusky. A memorial service will be at noon Friday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky; the Rev. Clayton E. Howard will officiate. Interment will be in Central, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
