Inez Van Piddock, 90, of Sandusky went home to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon, March 13, 2010, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 15, 1920, in Glenhays, W.Va., daughter of the late Olive (Fitzpatrick) and Robert Chapman. She worked at Ontario Department Store for 25 years and at the bomber plant during World War II.
She was a founding member of Free Will Baptist Chapel and enjoyed singing gospel music.
Inez is survived by her daughters, LaVern (Larry) Knapp of Sandusky, Yvonne (Daniel) Schell of Bellevue and Donna (Thomas) Halbisen Sr.; her sons, Charles "Phil" (Ginny) Piddock Jr. of Sandusky and David (Norma) Piddock of Mansfield, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Mae) Chapman of Fremont and Bill (Delores) Chapman of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Piddock Sr. in 1984; her daughters, Sonya Kay and Anna Lou Piddock; 11 siblings; and one great-grandson.
Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until services at 11 a.m. at Freewill Baptist Chapel, 613 E. Adams St., Sandusky. The Rev. Chris Little will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
