Mary Ann Sloan, 74, of Sandusky died early Sunday morning, March 14, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. The "Fab Five" is now the "Fab Four."

She was born Nov. 18, 1935, in Toledo, daughter of the late Donald and Margaret (McLaughlin) Green. Mary Ann was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary High School. Mary Ann was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and was employed with Sandusky Central Catholic School for the past 12 years, serving as development director.

Mary Ann was named 1975 Outstanding Woman of the year by the American Business Women's Club. She was on the Providence Hospital Board of Trustees, serving as chairwoman for the years of 1998-99. She was awarded the Women of Excellence in 1996 and was a board member of the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Merry-Go-Round Museum. Mary Ann was involved in many organizations throughout the years to help better our community.

Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with family and friends. The highlight of each year was the mystery trip she planned for Ralph every year since 1983. Her grandchildren Amanda and Michael were her greatest joy.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph D. Sr., whom she married July 28, 1956; two sons, Ralph D. Sloan Jr. of Sandusky and Stephen R. (Kathy) Sloan of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Amanda Ann and Michael Scot; two sisters, Pat (Ozzie) Reed of Vermilion and Margie (Art) Kuns of Galion, Ohio; one brother, Jim (Marge) Green of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one sister, Cathy Lamb.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayer services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Jason Kahle will officiate. Inurnment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park at a later date.
