Harold D. Mahl, 84, formerly of Bismark Road in Monroeville, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, in The Willows at Bellevue.
He was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Sherman Township, Ohio, the son of Ralph and Emma (Wirgh) Mahl. He married Virginia Mott on June 28, 1947, in St. Sebastian's Church; She preceded him in death on April 14, 2008.
Harold was employed at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde, and was also a farmer. He was a member of Norwalk Eagles, Immaculate Conception Church, a former member of St. Sebastian Church, and Bronson Conservation Rod and Gun Club. He also was a bus driver for Seneca East School District and worked with Sherman Township Road Mowing. He enjoyed playing euchre, eating at Parkertown restaurant, western movies and John Wayne.
He is survived by two sons, William (Patricia) Mahl of Monroeville and Ronald (Brenda) Mahl of Green Springs; daughters, Rita Droney of Oldsmar, Fla., and Carolyn (Ed) Kalb of Attica; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Mahl of Willard; and a sister, Agnes Bischoff of Bellevue.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Catherine Mahl, and his son-in-law, Robert Droney.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where the rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. A funeral mass, officiated by the Rev. Jonathon Wight, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery.
