Kenneth R. Behrendsen, 81, of Ashland, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010, at home after a brief illness.
He was born May 15, 1928, in Sandusky, son of the late Andrew and Dorothy Leibeicher Behrendsen. He married Geraldine Bates in 1948 and she preceded him in death in March 1988.
Ken was chief chemist at Barr Rubber in Sandusky and Eagle Rubber in Ashland for most of his career. He retired from Mohican Industries in Ashland in 1991.
Ken is survived by his wife of 20 years, Ann Behrendsen. He is also survived by three daughters, Ann Tarpley of Sandusky, Mary Beth (Jack) Motta and Amy McVey of Mansfield; two sons, Donald (Linda) Behrendsen and Robert Behrendsen of Ashland; three stepchildren, Chris (Jane) Myers of Fostoria, Ohio, and Cathy (Randy) Rhodes and Cindy McAleer of Ashland; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Geraldine; daughter, Glenda Buzzard; parents; and three brothers, John "Buck", Wayne and Paul Behrendsen.
Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. Thursday until services at 11 a.m. at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Milt Opper will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Sandusky.
