Katherine A. (Rhode) Willis, 81, of Castalia, died early Monday morning, Feb. 19, 2007, in St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, as a result of accidental injuries.
She was born Nov. 6, 1925, in Sandusky. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Mary High School and still enjoyed monthly gatherings with her classmates. She retired from Sandusky Plastics in 1987 after more than 25 years of service. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Katherine is survived by her children, Robert (Joyce) Willis of Bay View, Marie (John) Fox of Castalia and Cynthia (Ron) Stout of Summerville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; a brother, Arthur (Donna) Rhode Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Willis; a son, John “Jack” William Willis; her parents, Arthur and Edna (Scheid) Rhode Sr.; a sister, Mary Jane Smith; and a brother, Franklin Rhode.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayer services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery.
