Helen E. Stewart, 89, of Sandusky and formerly of Fostoria, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, in Parkvue Healthcare Center in Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 9, 1917, in Fostoria, to Roy and Violet (Wilbager) Hartley, now deceased. She married Willard L. Stewart on May 8, 1936, in Findlay. Helen was a member of First Christian Church in Fostoria, a deaconess at the church, past president, secretary of the CWF/church and a past member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Helen is survived by three sons, Leroy (Rita) Stewart of Billings, Mont., Stan (Karen) Stewart of Sandusky and Glenn (Joyce) Stewart of Forsyth, Mont.; three granddaughters, Tamara Stewart of Seattle, Pamela (Patrick) Wallenhorst of Cleveland and Sandra Stewart of Columbus; four stepchildren; two great-grandchildren, Kelly and Ryan Wallenhorst of Cleveland; three sisters, Dorothy Cochran of Fostoria, Goldie Reynolds of Tiffin, Ohio, and Donna Henry of Fostoria; and one brother, Paul Hartley of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Willard L. Stewart; her parents; sisters, Mary Houtz and Gretchen Coachie; and brother, Ralph Hartley.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home, where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday with The Rev. Gene Curtsinger presiding. Burial will be at Knollcrest-Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arcadia, Ohio.
