Elizabeth A. (Hummon) Woodward, 85, of Norwalk, died of cancer, Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
She was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Leipsic, Ohio, and lived in Norwalk for most of her life. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1940, from Ohio State University in 1943 and received a masters degree in 1977 from Bowling Green State University. She taught for 26 years in New London, retiring in 1988. She was taught evening classes at Firelands College in 1977-78 and was involved in a Research Club that organized in 1928, of which she became a member of in 1947. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Norwalk since 1934, the Naomi-Ruth Circle and the Dorcas Circle. She was also a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, American Vocational Association and Huron County Retired Teachers.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Albert) Wagner of North Canton, Charlotte Ann Wagner of Norwalk and Catherine (William) Sexten of Aitkin, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Sarah Woodward of Berea; sister, Sue Bosworth of Portland, Ore.; brother, Guy (Lu) Hummon of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Michele Phillips, Kimberly and Tod Wagner, Megan Hunkele, Charles Woodward and Jennifer Sexten; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Woodward in 1991; son, Charles A. Woodward II in 1980; sister, Mary Marjory Hummon in 1974; her parents, Guy A. Hummon in 1992 and Jane I. (Beach) Hummon in 1998; and brother-in-law, Duane A. Bosworth in 2004.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2–5 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home, 314E.MainSt.,Norwalk,whereservices will be 11 a.m. Monday, with The Rev. Roger E. Smith, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Milan Cemetery.
