James Ellard Patton, 87, of Clyde, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Mr. Patton was born on Jan. 23, 1920, in Blue Ridge , Ga., to James and Ida Mae (Griffin) Patton, now deceased. He was a member of  American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked 38 years at Whirlpool Corp. as a M.O. welder, retiring Oct. 1, 1984.

Survivors include one son, James (Tina) Patton of Sandusky; and four daughters, Sharon (Robert) Lee of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Shirley (David) Wiley of Toledo, Janice (Mark) Crooks of Clyde and Cindy Boyd of Athens, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Patton and Lawrence Patton.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. Funeral services will be  private.
