Elizabeth A. Smith, 87, of Sandusky, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at her daughter's home under the care of Stein Hospice. She resided formerly at the Franklin Street High-Rise.
She was born July 16, 1919, in Sandusky. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Betty worked for a short time as a grill cook for Melody Inn and at Periodical Publishers. She was a member of the Melody Inn Women's pool league, Y-Women and was voted as their Woman of Excellence in 1994. She was a member of the 55 Plus Club at First Reform United Church of Christ. Betty was known by her love for people and her willingness to help -- if you needed a ride, she was there. She enjoyed baking birthday and specialty cakes for her family and friends. You could always find her feeding the birds at the Jackson Street Pier.
She is survived by three daughters, Judy Prosser of Sandusky, Bonnie (Bob) Reed, Andalusia, Ala., and Marilyn (Roy) Prewitt of Sandusky; son, Vincent (Marlyce) Smith of Genoa, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; Elton Smith of Sandusky and Richard Smith of Castalia; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vincent A. Smith in 1975; special friend, Bob Hoffman; two sons-in-law, Gary Robert and Les Prosser; her parents, Willard E. and Armilla (Roesch) Meyer; and other beloved family members.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor John Paputza will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
