Roger C. Moore, 91, of Huron, passed away early Friday morning, Feb. 2, 2007, in Admiral's Point Nursing and Rehab Center, Huron, after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 3, 1915, in Pleasant Valley, Ky. Roger graduated in 1937 from Miami University of Ohio and came to Huron in 1942. He was employed by the Huron Public Schools for 16 years, where he taught math, coached basketball, football and served as athletic director. After earning a master's degree from Case Western Reserve in 1958, he became principal of the newly founded Perkins High School until his retirement in 1972.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, the former Christine Vilcek; two daughters, Carolyn (Bill) Spievak of Saginaw, Mich. and Judy (Ed) Zoliniak of Santa Cruz, Calif., four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Philip Moore of Celina, Ohio; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Henrietta B. Moore in 1984; his parents, Reuben and Bessie (Flora) Moore; one sister, Marguerite Howard; and one brother, Kenneth Moore.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. Private graveside services for the family will be held in the Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
