Barbara Ann (Porter) Kurtz, 60, of Kansas City North, Kan. passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, in North Kansas City Hospital.
Barbara was born May 16, 1946, in Bellevue. She grew up in Clyde and graduated from Clyde High School. She moved to Kansas City in 1979. She was a 21-year employee of La Petite Academy, where she was affectionately known as "Miss Barb" before retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Charles Parish, where she volunteered in the parish office. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis C. Kurtz at home; a son, Christian Porter of St. Joseph, Mo.; a daughter, Emily (Jason) and their children, Cydney and Jacob of Platte City, Mo., five step-children, Jennifer Kurtz at home, Ron (Linda) Kurtz of Topeka, Kan., The Rev. Frank A. Kurtz of Newbury, England, Donald (Laurie) Kurtz of Williamsport, Pa., and Dennis C. Kurtz Jr. of Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Richard (Carolyn) Farrar of Clyde, Bradford (Kimberly) Farrar of Fremont and Robert (Victoria) Farrar of Bellevue; two step grandchildren, Madelyn and Morgan Kurtz; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton William and Ruth Ann Farrar; a brother, Russell Farrar; twin sisters, LaDonna and LaVonna Farrar; a nephew, Russell Farrar Jr.; and her first husband, C. Jack Porter Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. today in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, Kan. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in McGilley Antioch Chapel, where rosary services will be 7:45 p.m.
