Esther M. Somsak, 88, of Greenwich, died Monday morning, Jan. 29, 2007, in Willard Healthcare Center.
She was born Jan. 11, 1919, in Byesville, Ohio, daughter of John and Esther (Szuhay) Kadar, now deceased. She lived in the Cleveland, Wellington and Greenwich areas until she moved to Pomona, Calif., in 1977. She moved back to Greenwich in 2001. She and her husband operated several business operations from a gas station in Cleveland and the Minneapolis Moline Tractor Dealership in Greenwich from 1967-72. They also farmed. Mrs. Somsak was a member of the Red Hat Society of Willard Healthcare.
She is survived by two sons, Leslie B. Somsak of Greenwich and John C. Somsak of Fullerton, Calif.; a daughter, Pamela Hall of Greenwich; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Kadar of Dayton, Ohio, and Lewis Kadar of Claremont, Calif.; three sisters, Margaret Somsak and Rose Pirus both of Pomona, Calif., and Elizabeth Vilagi of Chino, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie C. Somsak; her daughter, Esther Engel; and her great-granddaughter, Rachel Somsak.
There will be no visitation. Private family services will be held at a later time. Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich, are in charge of arrangements.
