Grace Arena (Bonderer) Busam departed this life Jan. 25, 2007.

She was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Trenton, Mo., the daughter of Herman and Winnie Bonderer. She graduated St. Mary Central Catholic High School in Sandusky in 1950. On Sept. 1, 1952, she married James Charles Busam at Holy Angels Church in Sandusky.

They began their married life in Milwaukee, Wis., where their six children were born. The family moved to Raleigh, N.C. in 1972. Grace was a creative and loving homemaker, who enjoyed painting, playing the piano, and knitting. She was a gatherer of family oral history and wrote some delightful memoirs that passed along many treasured moments from years ago. We will miss her laughter and her excellent cooking and the bountiful tables she set. She treasured her time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lloyd Bonderer; her sisters, Leota Ohlemacher, Eula Colvin and Celeste Hacker; her son, Kurt Busam; and her grandson, Mathew Busam.

The center of a large, loving family, Grace is survived by her husband, James Busam of Wake Forest, N.C.; her daughters, Anne (William) Dowling of Wendell, N.C. and Carol (David) Norris of Wilmington, N.C.; her sons, Paul (Anita) Busam of Ellicott City, Md. Eric (Angela) Busam of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Lyle (Cathy) Busam of Youngsville, N.C.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today in Bright Funeral Home Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St. Wake Forest, NC 27587, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Monday in Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Father John Parish officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 520 W. Holding Ave., Wake Forest, NC 27587.
