Donald F. Klebe, 70, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. He had resided at Ohio Veterans Home for the last year.
Born in Miami to Fred and Anna Klebe, Don grew up in Muscatine, Iowa. He spent three years in the U.S. Army in France. Klebe graduated with honors from Iowa State University with a degree in electrical engineering and spent most of his professional life with R. E. Warner and Associates of Westlake, Ohio, and then joined Stanley Consultants of Muscatine, where he retired as senior vice president and member of its board of directors.
Klebe was active in the American Engineers Consultive Council and a member of A.C.E.C. Fellows Organization and was a former president of the Ohio Association of Consulting Engineers. He was instrumental in organizing the Avon Kiwanis Club.
Don and his wife were avid boaters for many years and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Betty; daughter, Vickie (Scott) Fisher of Berea, Ohio; son, Daniel (Kim) Klebe of South Lyon, Mich.; four grandchildren; stepsons, Michael Dewey of Huron, Mark Dewey of Bucyrus and Matthew (Julie) Dewey of Huron; stepdaughter, Mary Jo (Rob) Rupinski of Mooresville, N.C.; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday until military services at 11 a.m. in Giffin Chapel at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky. Chaplain Paul Birmingham will officiate.
