Mary E. Schwochow, 96, of Clyde, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, in Elmwood Nursing Home, Green Springs.
May was born Oct. 9, 1910, in Green Creek Twp., Ohio, to Clare L. and Lottie (Eisenhard) Hutchinson. She attended Gayletown Country School, graduated in 1928 from Clyde High School and in 1930 graduated from Oberlin School of Commerce. On Nov. 1, 1975, she retired from Clyde Savings Bank after 45 years of service. Mary was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, and its Women of the Church, Sunshine Farm Women's Club and Progress Club of Clyde.
On July 25, 1937, she married Bruce G. Koons, and together they ran the Koons Food Market from 1939-59 and then the Koons Foodland in Green Springs from 1959 until Bruce's death on July 23, 1968.
Mary married Burton C. Schwochow July 3, 1977, and he preceded her in death March 14, 2004.
Surviving her is a sister, Kate Stanley of Clyde; sisters-in-law, Audrey Hutchinson of Clyde, Ruth Schwochow of Fremont and Charlotte White of Florida; brothers-in-law, Norman (Pearl) Schwochow of Clyde, Nelson White of Florida, James (Gladine) Schwochow of Vickery, and Kale (Nancy) Koons of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret (Carl) Lange; a brother, Neil Hutchinson; in-laws, Ervin Koons, Anna Mae Koons, and Albert, Eric and William Schwochow, and Esther Wott and Roy White.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until services at 11 a.m. at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. The Rev. Gerry Gosnell will officiate. Burial will be in Lay-Butternut Ridge Cemetery, rural Clyde.
