Peter S. Maschari, 59, of 318 Shelby St., Sandusky, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2007.
He was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Sandusky. He was a 1965 graduate of St. Mary's High School, where he was an honor student and played basketball and football for 4 years. He received a football scholarship to the University of Findlay, where he played football. He graduated in 1970 with a bachelor of science in business administration. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He returned to Sandusky, where he continued to own and operate Variety Beverage, which had been founded 60 years earlier by his parents, Robert and Lenore Maschari. He had great love and passion for family, as well as the family business and enjoyed following local and national politics. His interests included traveling the United States and watching pro and college sports. He was also an avid corvette enthusiast.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Peter is survived by his sister, the former Common Pleas Court Judge, Ann B. Maschari, and husband, Stuart H. Lippe; a nephew, Kevin R. Maschari of Sandusky; and a great nephew, Alex Maschari.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lenore (Kraus) Maschari.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Philip Feltman will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
