Jeffery Lyne Meinke, 64, of Port Clinton, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at his residence after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1942, in Gypsum, the son of Leland and Evelyn (Benore) Meinke.
Jeff served his country in the United States Army from 1967-68 doing a tour of duty in Vietnam. He later worked for the Ohio Veterans Home, where he retired in 2004. He was a member of the VFW Post 2480 of Port Clinton and the American Legion of Sandusky. Jeff was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed breeding and raising Labrador retrievers.
Surviving are his son, Lee (Jennifer) Meinke of Port Clinton; daughter, Shannon (Antonio) Hand of Oak Harbor; grandchildren Emma and Connor Hand and Brandon and Erin Smith; brother, Henry "Sonny" (Pat) of Lincoln, Neb.; and sisters, Cindy (Mike) Ference of San Antonio, Texas, and Karen Williams of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and longtime friend of the family, Becky Buchanan of Toledo; five nephews; two nieces; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Heidi, his parents and a sister, Sandy Meinke.
Burial will be private and no visitation will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Neidecker, LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton.
