Dorothy Elizabeth Drury, 89, of Stuart, Fla., passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born in Pandora, Ohio, grew up in Willard and graduated from Willard High School. She earned a B.A. degree from Otterbein College and a master's degree in nursing from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Willard. Her grandparents, the Rev. Sanford and Esther Sage, were twice missionaries in Sierra Leone, Africa.
Dorothy had the privilege of attending the medical school graduation of four generations of her family, including her father, husband, son and two grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Dr. John (Mary Ann) Drury of Huron; and four daughters, Rosanna McGovern of Chicago, Margaret Drury of Huron, Mary Kay (Ed) Kray of Harrisonburg, Va., and Jean Drury of Maumee, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one nephew; and one niece.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Walter A. Drury; parents, Dr. J.C. and Frances Steiner; her sister, Geraldine Whisler; and her grandson, Brenden McGovern.
Dorothy's greatest joy in life was hearing from and being with family and friends and sharing her homemade cookies.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Secor Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple St., Willard. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 401 E. Howard St., Willard, with the Rev. Ken Gifford officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Willard.
