Constance M. "Connie" Hammersmith, 58, of Norwalk, died early Monday morning, Jan. 15, 2007, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 21, 1948, in Norwalk, and was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a 1966 graduate of St. Paul High School.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Glenn A. Hammersmith of Norwalk; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Melanie Hammersmith of Norwalk; her daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela M. and Joseph Caizzo of Norwalk and Jill S. and Keith Helmke of Nashville, Tenn.; her mother, Beatrice M. (Weisenberger) Snyder of Norwalk; her caregiver, Jean Brown of Norwalk; her grandchildren, Camden J. Caizzo, Ava Constance Caizzo, Casper G. Caizzo, Kyle L. Helmke, Koen X. Helmke, Ethan M. Hammersmith, Justin P. Hammersmith and Megan A. Hammersmith; brothers and sisters- in-law, Nicholas and Debbie Snyder of Norwalk, George Snyder of Freeport Ind., Andrew and Lorraine Snyder of North Fairfield, Herbert and Terri Snyder of Norwalk, James and Teresa Snyder of Sandusky and John and Terry Snyder of Norwalk; and her sister, Elizabeth Snyder and her companion, Mike LaRoche of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her father, John H. Snyder, in 1999.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where prayer services will be at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. David Cirata will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
