Larry L. Bath, 65, of Castalia, died Sunday morning, Jan. 14, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, after a courageous 7 1/2 year battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Sandusky. He was a life-long resident of Castalia. He attended Margaretta High School and graduated from Babette's School of Dog Grooming in Toledo. Larry and his wife, Nancy, have owned and operated Bath's Dog Grooming in Castalia since 1966. He was formerly employed at Ferrell-Cheek and Medusa Cement. He was a member of American Legion, Sandusky Eagles, The American Dog Groomers Association, and Grace Lutheran Church. He was a former member of Castalia Rod and Gun Club, VFW and IAB, and had been an Erie County commissioner. Larry enjoyed sports, spending time with his family and teaching his grandchildren to swim. Many summer weekends were spent with his kids and grandkids enjoying time together by the pool.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy (Borchardt) Bath; son, Daniel (Julie) Bath; daughter, Andrea (Alan) Strause; grandchildren, Koren, Anthony, and Deran Bath, Haylee, Whitney, and Macey Strause and Allison Scally; great-grandson, Noah Bath; twin brother, Gary (Dianne) Bath; sister, Sharon (Todd) Miller; stepfather, Clair McCreery; grandfather, Alvin Wobser; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Bath and Ivadell McCreery.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until services at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington Street, Castalia. The Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
