A.C. Buchanan Sr., 81, of Port Clinton, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, in Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton.
A.C. was born Feb. 5, 1925, in Cades, Tenn., to Archie Clem and Nora (Henry) Buchanan. On April 2, 1948, in Corrinth, Miss., A.C. married Wilma Jo Sanders. A.C. was a WWII veteran of the Army and Air Force, where he was a sergeant. A.C loved stock car racing and was active in the sport all his life, most recently working with his grandsons' sprint cars. A.C. liked to fish and was a life member of VFW Homer D. Garden Post 2480 in Port Clinton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years; son, A.C. (Kathy) Buchanan Jr.; daughter, Cathy (Ken) Priddy; sons, Alan (Sarah), Mark, and Joe (Jacque) Buchanan; daughters, Julie (Don) Messersmith and Pam (Bob) Jensen; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, Barbara (James) Cowan and Michael Buchanan; his parents; a brother; three sisters; grandchildren, Josh Priddy and Christopher Cowan; and great-grandchild, Ryan Cowan.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with full military honors.
