June Mary Coughlin, 75, of Sandusky, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 10, 2007, in her home, after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 9, 1931 in Garfield Heights, Ohio and graduated from Garfield Heights High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Capital University, her master's in education from Kent State University and her master's in library science from Case Western Reserve University. After graduation, she taught in the Garfield Heights elementary schools and had been employed as a librarian at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She retired from the Firelands branch of Bowling Green State University after many years of service as head librarian.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, a life member of the American Association of University Women, a longtime member and treasurer of the Erie County Historical Society, a member of the Merry-Go-Round Museum and Ohio Canal Society, and served as a volunteer at Grace Episcopal Thrift Shop.
She enjoyed needlepoint, traveling and history.
June is survived by a brother, Neal W. (Culley) Coughlin of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; a niece, Culley Emerson of Litchfield, Ohio; and two nephews, Sean Coughlin of New Orleans, La., and Corey Coughlin of San Jose, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John C. and Linda (Wahl) Coughlin.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. Sunday until services at 5 p.m. in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Eric Rickle will officiate. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio.
