Ronald W. Zoellner, 69, of Huron, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

He was born Nov. 18, 1937, in Sandusky. Ron was self-employed as a plumber, but aviation was his true passion. He was a well-known area pilot and flight instructor for more than 50 years and operated the Huron County airport for 10 years. He attended Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the Erie County Gideons, where he brought the Gideon message to many Sandusky and surrounding area churches. Ron was also a member of the Sandusky Christian Businessmen, the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 50 and member and past president of the Sandusky Lions Club with whom he participated in numerous community projects.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, whom he married June 27, 1959; one daughter, Ruth (Scott) Crump of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Bob (Lori) Zoellner of Sandusky and David (Audrey) Zoellner of Milan; seven grandchildren; one brother, John (Thelma) Zoellner of Sandusky; and one sister, Carol (Ron) Smith of Cassopolis, Mich.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by one son, Bill in 1984; his parents, William and Wilhelmina (Benz) Zoellner; and other beloved family members.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel (formerly Quick-Park Pfeil), 617 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where the Sandusky Lions Club will hold a memorial service at 5:45 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. Monday until services at 11 a.m. in Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 4013 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David Flack will officiate. Burial will be in the Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
