John H. Austin, 76, of Norwalk, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Norwalk, to Harlan D. and Marjorie B. (Pollock) Austin, now deceased, and was a lifelong Norwalk area resident. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of Ken Bur Bell Post 41 American Legion, Norwalk; Eagles Aerie 711, Norwalk; Moose Lodge 1248, Norwalk; and Firelands Post 2743 VFW, Norwalk. He was a former employee of Norwalk Truck Lines, Becker Potato Chip Company, Norwalk, and Keller Chair Rental in Norwalk. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Sandusky. He enjoyed playing cards, music and bowling.
He is survived by his son, Mark A. Austin of Roanoke, Va.; his daughter and son in law, Debra A. and Robert W. Zinn of Monroeville; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters and brother in law, Peg Lisy of Milan and Susan and Douglas Breech of Columbus; and his brother, Richard Austin of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Ann Pownell and Dorothy Austin.
Visitation was Sunday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be 2 p.m. today. The Rev. David Cirata, associate pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
