Norma June Johnson, 77, of Sandusky, died Saturday morning, Jan. 6, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus.
She was born June 12, 1929, in Bartlick, Va. She was employed by Ohio Veterans Home as a nurse's aide for more than 22 years, retiring in 1989. She loved her grandchildren dearly, had a passion for reading and loved bingo, her garden, watching the Weather Channel and Sunday worship at Wayside Temple.
She is survived by her children, Nina (James) Stein, Ernest Johnson, Debra Johnson, and Lloyd "Al" Johnson, all of Sandusky; stepdaughter, Linda Rowell of Bryon, Ill.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Selma Hall of Haysi, Va., Betty Brooks of Clintwood, Va., and Elvie Baker of Powhatan, Va.; brother, Reese Willis of Richmond, Va.; and an uncle, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Lester" Johnson in 1980; son, Thomas Johnson in 1981; a son, Roy, and daughter, Juanita, both in infancy; stepson, Willard; her parents, Nelson and Lucinda (Yates) Willis; four sisters; and five brothers.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until services at 11 a.m. Jack Huffman will officiate. Burial will be in Peaks Cemetery, Berlin Township.
