Donald G. Tucker Sr., 80, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, Aug. 26, 2014, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Oka, W.Va., the son of Wilbur and Erma (May) Tucker. He had worked at New Departure-Hyatt (Division of General Motors) for over 40 years, retiring in 1993.
Don loved the races and had run the wrecker at the Sandusky and the Attica Speedway for many years. He also loved fishing, and many people will remember him fishing in the early morning down on the Jackson Street Pier for many years. He was a member of AMVETS Post 17 and a former member of American Legion Post 83.
Don is survived by his daughter, Donna K. Tucker, and two sons, Donald G. "Bub" (Jeanne) Tucker Jr. and Wayne P. (Carla) Tucker, all of Sandusky; foster son, Gary W. (Elsie) Greenich III of Galt, Calif.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Eloise Zech of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jackie L. Tucker, on Sept. 10, 2007; and two sisters, Justine Hoffman and one in infancy.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the funeral home. Chaplain David Detwiler will officiate. Don will take one last lap around the Sandusky Speedway track on the way to his burial. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron.
