Charlottie Jane “Peaches” (Dixon) Evans, 83, of Sandusky, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Charlottie was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Mingo Junction, Ohio, to Walter E. and Virgie Mae (Huggins) Dixon.
She attended Jefferson Union High School in Richmond, Ohio. In 1969, she moved to this area.
Charlottie was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Clyde, Grandmother’s Club Chapter 28, Vacationland Campers, Melody Makers and had been president of the Privileged Ones Club. She was also a member of Resthaven Golden Agers.
On Dec. 6, 1963, she married Willis Clark Evans, and he survives.
Also surviving are children, Linda (Lars) Johansson of Akron, Ford (Mary Evans) of Sandusky, Georgia Kay Clark of Haleyville, Ala., Erin (Charles) Leber of Clyde and Terry Smith of Lorain; a son-in-law, John Castello of Sandusky; and siblings, Andrew Robert (Pam) Smith Jr. of Richmond, Ohio, Joe (Betty) Dixon of Toronto, Ohio, and Flora Elizabeth Rager of Mingo Junction; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Charlottie was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Castello; and son-in-law, Jerry Smith.
Visitation will be from 11a.m. Monday, July 28, until the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. The Rev. David Gowen will officiate, and burial will be in Tew Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Flat Rock Children’s Home or Erie County Senior Center on Water Street, Sandusky.
