Emily Rae Huyler, 89, residing in Huron, passed away Monday evening, July 21, 2014, in her residence after a lengthy illness.
Emily was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Danbury, Conn., to Raymond and Clara (Stoddard) Linstrum.
Emily graduated from Danbury High School in Connecticut and worked as a nurse's aide at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk for many years.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Milan and a former member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Norwalk. She loved roller skating, especially dance skating, making holiday decorations in ceramics, and was proud of her beautiful doll collection.
Emily is survived by her daughter, Susan R. (Robert) David of Huron; son, Richard H. (Heather Kress) Huyler III of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Brad (Sarah) Bailey, Rachel (Brian Podobensky) Huyler, Richard (April) Huyler IV, Rhonda Huyler and Amanda Hart; nine great-grandchildren, Gigi, Dalton, Ben, Logan, Emma Lee, Caleb, Conner, Jackson and Quinn; one sister, Clara Zanella; two brothers, Raymond (Dot) Linstrum and Karl (Nancy) Linstrum; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Huyler Jr., in 2001 and her brother, Ted Linstrum.
Friends may call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan. Private family services will take place with burial following in Milan Cemetery.
