Shirley Mae (Stegman) Burns, 78, residing in Huron, passed away early Friday morning, July 11, 2014 in her residence after a lengthy illness.
Shirley was born July 9, 1936, in Sandusky to Earl Thomas and Margaret (Heishman) Stegman.
Shirley was the owner and operator of Shirley's Sweet Shoppe in Milan for two years, and did custodial work for the Erie County Sheriff's Office for 15 years before retiring in 2000.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed making candy, cake decorating and spending time with her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Edward) Morris of Akron, Rhonda (Anthony) Spinelli of Florida, Jackie (Gregory) Ogle of Sandusky, Beverly (Robert) Ryan of Huron; sons, Gary (Clarissa) and Robert (Kim) Burns, both of Milan; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Casey) Kunimura of Utah and Janet (Mario) Gonzales of Castalia; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her children, Richard Burns and Denise Burns; brothers, Milton, William, Robert and Richard Stegman; and sisters, Phyllis Pole and Mary Jane Crum.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 130 S. Main St., Milan. The Rev. Anthony Recker will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Milan.
