Nancy R. (Fleming) Schoewe, 80, of Sandusky, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, in Stein Hospice Care Center, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 12, 1933, in Hutchinson, Pa.
Nancy graduated from Port Clinton High School. She worked for Barr Rubber and retired from General Motors after 32 years of service.
Nancy loved to cook, bake, work in her yard, visit Amish country and Frankenmuth, Mich., and was a fan of the Kentucky Derby. She enjoyed trips to New England in the fall with her husband, Richard. She loved her Brittany Spaniel, Bud E., and enjoyed walking him on Mills Creek Golf Course. The apple of Nancy’s eye was her great-grandson, Brock; they were best buddies.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy H. “Shae” (John) Brophy of Sandusky; sons, Thomas E. Schoewe of Sandusky, and Jeffrey L. Schoewe; granddaughter, Veronica L. (Nathan) Parker; great-grandchildren, Travis Stigall, Brock Parker and Isaak Parker; brothers, William (Barb) Fleming of Sun City Ariz., and David (Pat) Fleming of St. Paul, Minn.; a special nephew, Greg J. Avery of Clyde; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. Schoewe, in 1989; parents, William H. and Nancy E. (Campbell) Fleming; sisters, Anna Mae Fleming, Emma Ritter, Dorothy Stefanacci, and Margaret Sauer; brother, Wayne Fleming; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Schoewe, Judith Avery, and Betty Fleming.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, until her Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., at Firelands Gathering Room, South Campus, 1912 Hayes Ave., Sandusky. Mary James will lead the celebration. Burial will take place in Castalia Cemetery at a later date.
