Bonita S. (Koehler) Saleski, 68, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning, June 30, 2014, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Bonnie was born April 16, 1946, in Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Elsworth George, on March 17, 2004; her mother, Eloise (Schaufelberger) Koehler, on Dec. 13, 2002; and a brother, Larry James Koehler in infancy.
Bonnie graduated from Sandusky High School. She was employed at Sandusky Memorial Hospital as a dietician for 16 years before being transferred to Firelands Regional Medical Center for two years and retiring in 2003. Bonnie was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as someone who was easy going and enjoyed life, she touched many lives.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Stanley A. Saleski, whom she married May 4, 1974; her great-nephew, Tom (Julie) Saleski; nieces, JoAnne Morency and Cynthia Ann (Bretz) Saleski; great-niece, Carrie Ann (Michael) McDonald; sisters-in-law, June (Edward) Horvath of Nevada, Veronica Vince of New Jersey, and Louise A. Mayus of Florida; and several great-great nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also be received from 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, until prayers at 12:30 p.m., at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m., at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with Father Joe Steinbauer presiding. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
