Gertrude (Bass) Cutcher, Zippay, Birchfield, 83, of Port Clinton, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Port Clinton, the daughter of Harley and Nellie (Zess) Bass, now deceased. She was a homemaker and member of Port Clinton Eagles Lodge Aerie 2295.
Surviving are her 12 children, daughters, Virginia (George) of Oak Hill, Ohio, Patricia of Kirkland, Wash., Barbara (Ron) of Fort Wayne, Ind., Martha of Graytown, Ohio, Bonnie (Melvin) of Oak Hill, Sonya (Charlie) of Phoenix; sons, Cletus Jr. (Jedie) of Sandusky, Larry of Jefferson, Texas, James of Superior, Ariz., Timothy (Luanne) of Port Clinton, David (Elaine) of Oregon, Ohio, and Joseph (Marnie) of Sandusky; 39 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Birchfield; parents, Harley and Nellie (Zess) Bass; brother, Harley Jr.; and sister, Martha.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until services at 11 a.m. at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. The Rev. James Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
